Powerful Books

This beautiful spring weather calls for some enlightening and powerful book recommendations. Pop a squat on campus, Magnolia market, or Cameron Park and prepare to be inspired. I don’t make these recommendations lightly. When I say these are must reads, I mean it.

Book 1: The Subtle Art of not Giving a F*ck

This book is an eye opener to the endless possibilities available as soon as you learn to not care what others think, stay confident within yourself, and conquer goals without fear. This book is best summarized by James Clear when he says, “Everything worthwhile in life is won through surmounting the associated negative experience. If you are able to not give a f*** about the pain your goals require, then you become unstoppable. The moments when we don't give a f*** and take action are often the moments that most define the course of our lives.” I have been coming back to this book for the 4 years I have owned it. When I find myself needing motivation or a confidence boost, this book is my go to. Swear by it.

Book 2: The 48 Laws of Power

This book came from a TikTok recommendation, and it is easily one of the best recommendations I’ve received on that app. Robert Greene bases his 48 laws of power in years of social psychology research. He is a literary genius. This book is so powerful and influential that it is banned in all prisons-- how cool. The basis of each rule is personal. It is almost like a how-to book on becoming a sociopath. Although, these rules can be very useful tools in attaining your goals without succumbing to the manipulation and distractions the world offers. A few of my favorite chapters are; chapter 12- Use selective honesty and generosity to disarm your victim, chapter 21- play a sucker to catch a sucker, seem dumber than your mar, and chapter 40-Despise the free lunch. There are 45 more insanely thought out rules to help you conquer your worth. A great read and even better life lesson.

Book 3: Why Men Love B*tches

Now, this recommendation is for the ladies. Girl, is Chad from Kappa Apple Tide Pod treating you less than your worth? Do your standards just keep dwindling in order to

find companionship? Do you find yourself constantly giving too much to somebody that doesn’t reciprocate? You are not a doormat- this book solemnly swears to transform you into a dream girl! Even if you are a strong independent woman, this book has some good lessons that are beneficial to anybody. A few great lessons in this book are; don’t act like you’re capable of doing everything, anything a person chases in life runs away, and it is your attitude about yourself that a man will adopt. These lessons reach further than dating. They can apply to your professional life and friendships as well. Even if you think of yourself as a dating connoisseur, give this book a try. You may be able to stick a few more tools under your belt.
