At-home Workouts

With colder weather coming, your daily run or gym workout may not seem as appealing anymore. At-home workouts are the perfect solution to keeping yourself motivated and active, while sticking to your same routine. Even though you won’t be able to run that five miles or bench to your heart's content at home, I’ve compiled a list of the best workouts I’ve done at home to keep me toned and active. These require minimal equipment and are easy to do wherever, whenever.

Tasha Franken is a model, certified health coach and Pilates instructor who shares her love of the practice with her many followers through her Youtube channel. Pilates is all about connecting with your body and doing effective movements through tiny motions.  She states, “My workouts are designed for EVERY BODY to do at home with minimal equipment, space and time. They create a long and sculpted body using Pilates-based exercises that add feminine tone without bulking and focus on breathing to reduce cortisol & inflammation in the body.” I follow her workouts routinely, and I can promise you’ll be sweating by the end!

I know it seems like this compilation is going to only be about Pilates; it’s not, I promise, but these are seriously some of the most effective workouts I’ve done! Alexis Fischer is a professional dancer who has used her passion for fitness to become a teacher. She can be found teaching classes at BoxUnion, Body By Simone and Hot Pilates in Los Angeles, while also keeping her followers motivated with kick-a** Instagram workouts. Her free workouts on Instagram range from a 15 minute arm series to a 50 minute full body sculpt. Her workouts are a great challenge to add into your normal routine and surprise your body with something new.

If you love cycling, then you’ve probably heard of Peloton, the at-home bike that provides you with cycling classes you can do in the comfort of your own home. Peloton has come out with an app that can be used on your phone, computer or streamed wherever there is a screen. There are thousands of classes available that range from yoga, bootcamp workouts, cardio blasts, strength training and so much more. A cool, interactive feature is that you can see other users who are doing the same workout with you, in real time! The workouts are challenging, but the coaches who lead the classes take your mind off the work with their upbeat attitudes and encouragement. The app is free for the first 30 days and then $12.99 a month afterwards.

Corepower Yoga

Yoga is a practice I think everyone should incorporate into their workout routine. Not only does it calm your mind, but it also stretches and soothes your muscles into becoming long and lean. Corepower Yoga is a national chain of yoga studios that focus mainly on hot yoga. I’ve been able to take many different levels of their classes, and I can tell you, I never regretted one of them. It is the right balance of calmness and pushing oneself to keep going. Instead of going into the studio, Corepower has developed Corepower Live and Corepower Yoga On Demand. If you want to be a part of a live class that connects a wide community, Corepower Live streams yoga and sculpt classes seven days a week. Prices vary from $30 for 3 classes to $75 for 5 classes. If you need more flexibility, Corepower Yoga On Demand gives you unlimited access to over 300 classes ranging from 5-minute meditations to sweaty 60-minute flows. With new classes added each month, the $19.99 monthly fee is honestly super worth it.
