Fort Worth freshmen, Zach McDonald and Luke Brown, have been keeping themselves busy since moving to Waco. Both business majors with a passion for clothing, they began a clothing company just before starting school at Baylor. Their desire was to represent Waco with comfy, classy t-shirts for people to wear everyday. We sat down with Zach McDonald to learn more about the company.

  1. How did your clothing company begin?

We started the company at the end of this past summer. At first we thought about doing a resale company that sold thrifted clothes, because we are really into thrifting clothes. Then we realized it would take a lot of work to keep up with the inventory. However, we still really liked the idea of starting a clothing company and selling clothes that are cool, so we began Waco Threads Clothing Co.

2. What made you want to start Waco Thread Clothing Co.?

We were motivated by the idea that there are a lot of t-shirts that you randomly get, but these you can actually wear and actually look good in them. They’re not super cheesy and there’s not many t-shirts in the market like that-- good and classy t-shirts that are comfortable and aren’t cheesy.

3. What does the process of production look like?

We had a guy design the logo on the back of our shirts. We paid him to do it and told him exactly what we wanted it to look like. We found him on the app, Fiverr. The front logo we made-- it was pretty simple. We gave that information to a printer in Fort Worth (The Grey Stitch) and they printed our shirts for us.

4. What message are you trying to send through your products?

We want to represent Waco and have some pride for the city. We want to show the composite skyline of Waco, displaying its different aspects. We wanted to show the landmarks, and show people that Waco is not just Magnolia.
