How To: Turn Your Valentine’s Day Into Galentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Before you roll your eyes and close out of this webpage, know that there are ways to celebrate the day that don’t require a significant other.

For the past few years, I have chosen to celebrate Galentine’s Day instead. Last year, I ordered a heart-shaped pizza from Papa John’s and picnicked with some girlfriends as we shared big dreams and encouraged one another to chase after them. I use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to hang out with my friends and to do things that make me happy. This year will be no different.

This February 14th, I have decided that a cake will be involved with my celebration. I want to decorate my apartment and invite some girlfriends over for some fun. I threw a practice party a little early for Buttoned, and I hope you are inspired to throw a Galentine’s party of your own this year.

First off, I made the cake of my dreams. The recipe I used can be found here. It is the easiest way I know to make a boxed cake taste like it’s made from scratch. Also, how fun are the colors of the inside?

As for drinks, my current favorite is Bubly’s raspberry flavored sparkling water. The color matches perfectly with the cake.

For decorations, I shopped at Target and Party City. This is a fun opportunity to get creative and let your inner five-year-old go wild.

The final ingredient for this party is your girl gang. Invite your besties over, play some Taylor Swift, and dance like there’s no tomorrow. Have deep talks, compliment each other, and seize the day!

I hope this Valentine’s Day you are able to recognize how loved and valuable you are. Whether you are in a relationship or not, you have worth and meaning. The world needs you. Happy Valentine’s Day from Buttoned. We love you! XOXOXO!
